USA Today는 목요일 (미국시각) 삼성이 특허 취득수로 볼 때 2016년에 ‘가장 혁신적인 회사’라고 말했다. 인포메이션 포 인더스트리 (IFI)가 제공한 데이터를 통해 24/7 월 스트릿은 삼성전자가 자회사들을 포함헤 2016년에 가장 많은 특허를 취득했다고 말했다.
삼성은 총 8500개의 특허를 취득했고, 그 다음으로 IBM이 8088개를 취득했다. 24/7 월 스트릿은 기장 혁신적인 25대 회사를 가리기 위해, 미 특허청으로부터 최소 1000개 이상 특허를 취득한 회사로만 국한시켰다.
24/7 월 스트릿은 이 특허 취득수에 모회사 뿐만 아니라 자회사들도 포함시켰다. 24/7 월 스트릿이 공개한 2016년 ‘가장 혁신적인 10대 회사’ 랭킹은 아래와 같다.
